EDM selected for UK trade mission to China led by UK Prime Minister

2 12 月 2013

Tony Bermingham, EDM’s Managing Director, has been chosen to be a delegate on an official visit to China led by UK Prime Minister, David Cameron.

Other members of the delegation include Lord Livingston, Minister Designate for Trade and Investment and delegates from leading UK business companies such as Rolls-Royce, Royal Dutch Shell Plc, McLaren Group and The Premier League.

EDM was asked to take part because of its exceptional export credentials and trade links with China. Over the past six years, EDM has pursued business growth in China and in 2008, formed a partnership with Xi’an Feibao, a Chinese company which also manufactures cabin crew training equipment. The partnership has been mutually beneficial and has grown from strength to strength.

Tony Bermingham said:

“It is a huge honour to be invited on this official trip in recognition of our business success and experience of working in China.

“In six years we have achieved market leadership in China and this was made possible by finding the right Chinese business partner with Xi’an Feibao. China is now EDM’s biggest market and represents 65% of the company’s export sales.”

EDM’s total export value to China is worth £25 million and the company has supplied cabin crew training equipment to all major Chinese airlines and aviation authorities.

Prime Minister David Cameron said:

“I am delighted that EDM are joining me in the largest British business delegation to go to China this century.

“This Government’s priority is to secure the economic recovery and we are determined to all we can to help British companies to succeed in the global race.

“I am firmly committed to playing my part which is why I have taken more than 130 business delegates to China, including EDM. My aim is to open the door for them in this fast-growing market, creating opportunities for them to expand their business.”

The official trade mission to China is aiming to promote stronger business ties between the UK and China and grow UK exports. The UK delegation will be visiting Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu over 3 days.
