Throughout EDM’s history, we have incorporated a variety of initiatives to help
prove ourselves to our corporate social responsibility responsibilities both
domestically and internationally. Our team have been hard at work in implementing ways in which we could address concerns raised within the business
and outside.
For this, we have looked at a variety of ways we can meet these standards like
looking into our health and safety aspect of our business and our green initiative
which looks at how we can improve the way operate responsibly when
manufacturing various products in-house.

Health and safety initiative
Elements of EDM’s business are ISO 27001 certifed. EDM has made fundamental
changes to its health and safety initiative around its manufacturing facility to
make sure all areas within the business are in accordance with strict policies
that are designed to reduce any potential health concerns such as:
• Eye care
• Feet and toe protection
• Instruction for working at height
• Regular training days for:
• Working at Height
• Working with Hazardous Substances
• Working with Machinery
• Handling heavy goods and materials
Going ‘green’ initiative
EDM Ltd design and manufacture training simulators for military and civil use.
Materials used in the manufacture of the training devices are composites, GRP,
steel, aluminum and plastics.
As a company we are committed to:
• Operate our facilities in a responsible manner with concern for the environment
and the community in which we operate.
• Meet our legal requirements on environmental matters.
• Strive to continually improve our overall environmental performance by
reducing the impact of our activities, products or services.
• Seek to prevent pollution to the environment by monitoring our operations
and ensuring that should any significant waste streams arise an aspect/Impacts
register will be drawn up.
We are Macmillan.
Apart from the initiatives we are working towards, we are also proud of some of
the contributions and work we have done with various organizations in the
United Kingdom like Macmillan who actively look after those who suffer with
illnesses related to cancer.
With our collaboration and ongoing contributions over the years, we are proud
to be working alongside Macmillan and supporting those that are not as
fortunate as others.
Supporting local communities
EDM has also made generous donations to local initiatives in Manchester. As
seen on the right, EDM has donated £5000 to the Mayor of Greater Manchester
Andy Burnham’s Homelessness Fund.
Mayor Burnham [seen on the right] launched the fund in June 2018 as part of
his mayoral election pledge to end rough sleeping in Greater Manchester by
2020. After donating 15% of his own salary to the fund and encouraging donations
from individuals and companies, the Mayor is now actively inviting community
and voluntary organisations established to help homeless people to
apply for money to help tackle the issue.
