EDM engineer raises funds for Macmillan after completing ‘Go Sober’

Manchester, UK. EDM, a leading global provider of training simulators to the civil aviation and defence sectors, announced today that one its staff has raised hundreds of pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support by completing Go Sober.

EDM engineer, Pete Tierney, went teetotal during the month of October as part of Macmillan’s national Go Sober fundraising initiative. After securing sponsorship from family, friends and work colleagues, Pete raised £500 for the charity which aims to provide support to those with cancer from diagnosis through to treatment and beyond. This year Go Sober raised over £2.5 million in the UK from 58,000 participants known as ‘Sober Heroes’.

“We would like to thank Pete for his amazing fundraising effort for Macmillan,” said Becky Bainton, Macmillan’s Fundraising Manager. “We’re sure it must have been a tough challenge but we’re very grateful! The money will go to help ensure no one has to face cancer alone.”

Macmillan is EDM’s chosen charity with staff organising regular fundraising initiatives throughout the year. So far in 2015, charity activities have included a golf day, paper plane throwing competition, marathon running and Halloween themed coffee morning.
