This expansion marks a further step in EDM’s global growth strategy, strengthening its ability to support customers across multiple regions while increasing overall manufacturing flexibility and capacity.
The addition of the Malaysia facility means EDM are uniquely placed to support airline customers in the ASEAN region, the Americas and Europe with manufacturing operations at three key locations: Manchester (UK), STS Tulsa (USA), and Simginuity EDM (Kuala Lumpa, Malaysia). This structure ensures that the EDM group can effectively and efficiently support our customers in their own time zone and rapidly respond to their requirements.
The expansion into Malaysia introduces a more distributed manufacturing model, with several key advantages:
- Global Manufacturing Footprint: Establishes a presence in Southeast Asia, strengthening access to the ASEAN market and improving proximity to regional customers.
- Improved Delivery Flexibility: Enables workshare across three sites, allowing programmes to be delivered more efficiently depending on complexity, timelines, and location.
- Increased Capacity: Adds additional manufacturing capability to support future growth and larger, multi-region projects.
- Stronger Regional Support: Provides a local base to better support customers across Asia, reducing lead times and improving responsiveness.
EDM will operate a coordinated, three-site manufacturing model:
- Manchester (UK) – Core engineering, design, and high-value manufacturing
- STS Tulsa (USA) – Manufacturing & Support for North America, South America and Canadian programmes and customers
- Simginuity EDM (Malaysia) – Regional manufacture & support for ASEAN markets
This approach ensures EDM retains its core engineering capability in the UK while building a more scalable and globally aligned product and support delivery model.
