Congratulations to Will Whitehead, our EDM 2026 Apprentice of the Year!

EDM is pleased to announce that Will Whitehead has been named our Apprentice of the Year, recognising his outstanding quality of work, professional approach and contribution to the business over the past year.

The Apprentice of the Year award is presented annually by EDM and recognises an apprentice who has stood out through their performance, attitude and development.

Will has become a valued member of the EDM team and has made an important contribution to a number of projects across the business.

One of his standout projects was the Virgin training device for SkyPeople Training, where Will was involved from the first stages of the build through to completion. Throughout the project, he demonstrated a creative, mature and methodical approach, communicating well with colleagues and proving he could be relied upon to work independently to a high standard.

Will has also contributed to EDM’s defence programmes, including work on both the Ejection System Maintenance Trainer (ESMT) and Weapons Loading Trainer (WLT).

His work on the ESMT also saw him travel to Poland to support the site installation, giving him valuable experience taking a major engineering project through to its final installation phase.

Whether working independently or alongside the wider team, Will’s enthusiasm, professionalism and willingness to get involved have made him a key member of the team.

Commenting on the award, Tony Bermingham (Managing Director) said:

“Congratulations to Will on his significant achievement in winning the Apprentice of the Year award. The standard and quality of the competition is among the highest at EDM and therefore it makes his success even more impressive. I wish him the best for a long and successful future with EDM.”

Will’s achievement reflects the hard work and progress he has made throughout his apprenticeship, as well as the important contribution apprentices continue to make across EDM.

Congratulations to Will on a thoroughly deserved award.
