Tony Bermingham, EDM’s Managing Director, is visiting Shanghai today as part of an official 3-day trade mission with the British government to China. Leading the trip is David Cameron, UK Prime Minister and other UK government ministers.

Whilst in Shanghai, Tony Bermingham will sign a contract worth circa £520,000 with Xi’an Feibao, EDM’s partner company in China, for the supply of its ‘SEPTRE’ cabin crew training software system.

Mr. Wang Li Zhi, President, will be signing the contract on behalf of Xi’an Feibao and the end-customer receiving the SEPTRE system will be Beijing Capital Airlines.

EDM formed its partnership with Xi’an Feibao in 2008 and the companies have been working in co-operation to supply cabin crew training equipment to China’s domestic airlines and aviation authorities.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, EDM’s Tony Bermingham commented:

“I am very pleased to sign this contract with Xi’an Feibao today; this signing ceremony further demonstrates the successful and long-standing partnership between EDM and Xi’an Feibao.

“Our co-operation is truly bi-directional; EDM has gained access to Chinese customers to a far greater extent than we could have independently and Xi’an Feibao has benefited from our technical expertise.”

Moreover, both companies are collaborating to grow business outside China and EDM recently announced that it has been selected by Garuda Indonesia to design and manufacture a range of cabin crew training equipment. EDM will work in co-operation with Xi’an Feibao to deliver this substantial programme which includes a Boeing B777-300ER Door Trainer; a Bombardier CRJ1000 Door Trainer and a dedicated Cabin Service Trainer with First Class and Business Class cabins.

China is now EDM’s biggest market and represents 65% of the company’s export sales and through the partnership, EDM has supplied cabin crew training equipment to all major Chinese airlines and aviation authorities.
