Manchester, UK. EDM, a leading global provider of training simulators to the civil aviation and defence sectors, announced today that it has won an order with a major US airline to supply a B787 Extended Door Trainer.
EDM will design and manufacture the Extended Door Trainer at its Manchester facility in the UK before shipping and installing it at the airline’s cabin crew training centre in the United States. The state-of-the-art equipment will be specifically employed to train cabin crew in the safe operation of the exit door of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner under a variety of normal and abnormal conditions.
The B787 Extended Door Trainer will include features such as a single row of economy seats with emergency oxygen mask deployment and passenger service unit, flight attendant seat, functional attendant switch panel and simulated touchscreen cabin attendant panel. This is the second B787 Extended Door Trainer EDM will build for the airline having supplied one previously in 2014.
EDM was the first company in the world to build a B787 Door Trainer with previous customers for the equipment including All Nippon Airways, United Airlines and China Southern Airlines.
