EDM welcomes another A220 Door Trainer order from new customer, airBaltic

Manchester, UK. EDM, the leading global provider of training simulators to the civil aviation and defense sectors, announced today that it won a project to supply an A220 Extended Door Trainer (formerly named Bombardier CSeries) for airBaltic. The Door Trainer (DT) will soon be put into production.

Upon completion and the FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), the Door Trainer will be installed at airBaltic Training centre in Riga, Latvia, with EDM personnel concluding its SAT (Site Acceptance Test)

The A220 Extended DT (incorporating the L1 main door, and Overwing Exit with auto-close functionality) will be EDM’s eighth trainer of the type, which further bolsters EDM as the global leader in providing trainers for this specific aircraft type to the market.

Also included is an R1 Dummy Door for crosscheck purposes, Flight Deck Door Access Trainer (FDDAT) and EDM’s Virtual Slide Trainer (VST).

EDM’s A220 Door Trainer has been set up to accommodate a variety of different features which are aimed at fulfilling training objectives like aircraft familiarisation, securing the cabin for flight, practicing evacuation procedures and many more.

Some of the functionality provided with this trainer include:

• Normal door opening/closing modes
• R1 door crosscheck ability
• Simulated Flight Attendant Panel
• Slide armed/disarmed lever
• Emergency Operation Mode with Automatic Power Assist System (APAS)
• Gust lock lever mechanism
• Manual inflation handle
• Flight deck door access procedures
• Simulated, external slide deployment scenarios
